Cyprus cuisine can be likened to that of Greece, with a definite Mediterranean flavour and style, however the position of the island at the crossroads of the Middle East, Africa and Europe means that it has a few little extra exotic influences. Eating out in Paphos can be a great experience, with many restaurants providing music and dancers to entertain while you eat. If you want a more authentic Paphos meal (not so tailored to a tourist market), it is recommended to look for restaurants away from the beachfront promenade, places where the island natives choose to eat.

There are plenty of cheap options for some low cost budget-friendly dining, with thrifty options throughout the city (again, the cheap restaurants will be found away from the promenade). Try the traditional meze dishes, which can incorporate up to 30 little delicacies in one sitting – it’s a great way to get a complete experience of the flavour of Cyprus’ cuisine.
